Consent, care, and the kind of power that waits for a yes.
Every story needs a hero—but not everyone gets cast in that role.
When a new heroine walks onto the set of The Real Werewives, The Mating Game, or any of my other shifter romance worlds, she’s usually standing at a crossroads. She’s making big changes. Escaping chaos. Reclaiming her power. Sometimes she’s in real trouble.
(And honestly? If she came to one of my books at that moment—bless. She chose correctly.)
She deserves a mate who will bask in her shine, stand and fight beside her, and make her feel just as powerful as she already is. The last thing she needs is a free-for-all in the forest the second the pack catches a sweet new scent.
In my world, shifters audition for their roles.
Before I ever think about a meet-cute, these are the core values I look for in my heroes.
1. Consent is non-negotiable.
Full stop.
In my books, attraction does not equal ownership (unless we’re talking about a killer pair of heels—then you’d better be quick). My heroes give their leading ladies their full attention. They wait. They listen. They ask.
And yes—it’s extremely hot when they do.
Most importantly, they give her a choice. Desire is mutual. “Yes” matters. Always.
That’s the baseline for a consent-forward shifter romance in my world.
2. Protection is care, not control.
My heroes earn trust—from their mate and from their pack.
Protection does not mean dominance. It does not mean restriction. And it definitely does not mean “I know better than you.”
These shifters are willing to fight with their mate, not over her. My heroines do not need to be protected from themselves, thank you very much. They know exactly what they’re doing.
My heroes understand the difference between guarding someone and owning them—and they choose care every time.
3. They have power that makes space.
The sexiest thing my heroes do isn’t take charge.
It’s create safety—emotional and physical—and then let her choose what happens next.
I write shifter heroes with quiet confidence and real emotional intelligence. They don’t fear powerful women. They don’t compete with them. They make room for her to be fully herself.
That kind of strength doesn’t need to prove anything.
If this sounds like your vibe—if you want spice and safety, if you love protective heroes who understand consent, and if “yes” matters to you—you’re in the right place.
Tell me your favorite type of shifter (wolf, bear, dragon, etc.),
and whether you like them grumpy, golden retriever, or quietly feral.
I’ll point you to your next book boyfriend.
